Vintage Pretty Gritty Day!

Boys playing baseball on S. 1st Street, 1922.

From the caption: “The boys mostly wear knee-length pants with thick stockings, sweaters, and caps. Their shoes are lace-ups, which are likely made of leather.” UofL Photo Archives

I’m sure these boys couldn’t wait for some warmer spring days, much like us! Have a great weekend.

Brushed fur. Union Square, Manhattan, NYC. Spotted by Amber Garvey

This coat reminds me of brush strokes in an impressionist painting. Yesterday I saw the fabulous Impressionism, Fashion and Modernity exhibit at the MET, featuring men’s & women’s clothing seen in paintings by Renoir, Monet, Manet, Baudelaire, and more. These painters were capturing the look of the period in much the same way we do with street photography. A glimpse of a moment, just with a different medium. If you are NYC before May 27th, I highly recommend it!

Back to Louisville tomorrow!
